The tumbling 'E' Eye chart comprises a series of Es pointing in different directions, similar to a Snellen Eye Chart.

It is useful to detect nearsightedness in young children who don't know the letters of the alphabet, as they are able to point in the direction of where the "fingers" of the 'E' are pointing.

It can also be used to test the distance visual acuity of children or adults who cannot communicate verbally due to a disability, language barrier, or any other reason.
